Microsoft announces Surface Hub 2

Earlier this month Microsoft announced they are currently working on a second generation of it’s Surface Hub. The new Surface Hub is expected to launch sometime in 2019 and while we don’t know too much about it yet, Microsoft have revealed some key features such as the ability to rotate it 90-degrees and attach it with up to three other Hubs.

The new device will have a 50.5-inch 4K+ multi-touch PixelSense Display in either landscape or portrait mode. Cameras, speakers and microphones are also build into the device and will pivot too. Four hubs will be able to be connected together in whats being called ‘Tiling’, creating one canvas for a video call and one for PowerPoint presentations, for example.

Microsoft have also teamed up with workplace experts Steelcase to give the Surface Hub 2 rolling stands and easy-to-use mounts which will make it much easier to move around offices. As businesses become more collaborative and the working environment shifts towards open offices, huddle rooms, team working spaces and remote working, devices like the Surface hub make it easy to work together and share ideas on one screen, promoting a more creative and productive workplace.

Microsoft have not yet confirmed the price, but the first generation surface hub started at $8,999. With the new one expected to have a better display (and probably more power), and a new design, it’s likely to cost just as much, if not more.

The Surface Hub 2 will be available to buy in 2019, with prices released at a later date.
